What each metric means

  • Words — split on whitespace; multiple spaces between words still count as one gap.
  • Characters / no spaces — match Twitter-style vs “letters only” limits in other apps.
  • Unique words — vocabulary breadth; pairs with Word frequency.
  • Lines & paragraphs — lines use newlines; paragraphs are blocks split by a blank line.
  • Sentences — split on . ? !; may differ from Word on abbreviations.
  • Min read — ~200 words per minute; tune with Reading time if you need another speed.

Quick tips
