Live preview
Great for guest lists, backlog items, and playlist cleanup. Row count stays fixed; only order changes.
Sorting stays in this tab; use Copy sorted lines when you need the reordered list elsewhere.
Your sorted preview will show here.

Length & format benchmarks
Use these as sense checks while you edit-not rigid rules. Every app counts characters and “words” a little differently.
- Blog posts: ~800-2,000 words is a common full-article band before you split into a series.
- SEO explainers: ~1,000-2,500 words when you need depth, headings, and internal links without filler.
- Social: ~100-300 characters for a tight single post; threads need clear breaks.
- Academic abstracts: often ~150-300 words-always match the venue PDF.

What this is for
Use Sort Text Alphabetically when guest lists, SKUs, or backlog rows need A→Z or Z→A order with blanks pinned below filled lines and a quick first line after sort sanity check.
- Flip Order anytime; preview and counts refresh on every keystroke
- Pair with Sort lines when you want the same engine under a compact layout name
- Normalize messy paste with Remove extra spaces before you sort
- Use Copy sorted lines (or exports) when only the reordered block should leave the tab
Remember: Sorting compares whole lines; split multi-field rows if you need column-level order.
Bookmark this page-PMs and admins alphabetize lists all day. One tab beats spreadsheet gymnastics.
Built for real lists
Spreadsheet exports and bullet dumps rarely arrive pre-sorted. This tool reorders non-empty lines while preserving blank spacing at the bottom of the paste-fast, predictable, and private in your tab.
How it works
- Paste into Your lines and choose Order. Live preview updates as you type (sticky on wide screens).
- Scan the large non-empty lines count, active order, totals, blanks, words, read time, and first line after sort.
- Check Quick peek when order shifts, read What this means, then Copy sorted lines.
What each metric means
- Non-empty lines - rows with visible text after trim; these participate in A→Z / Z→A.
- Blank rows (bottom) - empty lines kept in the file but grouped after sorted content.
- First line after sort - quick sanity check for the new top item.
- Words / read time - whole-paste signal; pair with Line counter for row audits.
Privacy: Your paste is not sent to us for sorting; it stays in this tab until you reload, clear, or copy it yourself.
FAQ
- Is my list uploaded? No-everything runs in your browser until you copy.
- Do I need an account? No sign-in; the tool is free.
- What does Copy sorted lines include? Only the sorted textarea-newline characters preserved-not the stat cards.
- Why does it say “already in this order”? Your lines already match the current A → Z or Z → A pick (blanks at the bottom). Flip to the other direction or edit a row.
- Can I use it on my phone? Yes-the layout stacks; paste, change order, and copy the same way.
