How it works

  2. Read the large lines total first, then non-empty vs empty, characters, words, structure, reading time, and longest line.
  3. Use the gray What this means / Next box under the stats, then Copy report to export plain-text metrics.

What each metric means

  • Lines — split on newline (\n); Windows \r\n still yields one break per row in most pastes.
  • Empty — whitespace-only rows after trim; included in total so you can audit spacing.
  • Paragraphs / sentences — same rules as Sentence counter; useful when prose has hard line breaks.
  • Reading time — ~200 wpm from words; tune with Reading time.
  • Longest line — raw character length of the longest row (great for wide log fields).

Privacy: Counting is designed to run locally in your browser. We do not store your paste on our servers.

  • Why doesn’t this match wrapped lines in my editor? Only newline characters count; visual wrap is ignored.
  • What does Copy report include? Plain-text lines: totals, non-empty/empty, characters, words, paragraphs, sentences, averages, longest line, content share, reading time.
